Deutsche Bank unit defends vote for Hewlett deal
NEW YORK (AP) - The asset management unit of Deutsche Bank Tuesday denied allegations that it was pushed into voting for Hewlett-Packard’s proposed $ 20 billion acquisition of Compaq Computer.
“The decision was made by Deutsche Asset Management’s proxy committee, which only exercise its independent judgement in the interest of its clients, Deutsche Asset Management spokeswoman Missy DeAngelis said.
HP Monday that revealed the U.S. Attorney’s office had cited it for information related to voting by Deutsche Bank and another major shareholder, Chicago bank Northern Trust, which was not immediately available for comment and has not revealed its vote in the merger.
